IDRC Ecohealth Project Leader visits the HSPH and the VPHA

International Development Research Center (IDRC) Ecohealth Program Leader Dr. Dominique Charron paid a visit to the HSPH and its Center of Public Health and Ecosystem Research Center (CENPHER) on  4^th February 2013. During the visit, Dr. Charron met with the Dean of HSPH and President of VPHA Prof. Le Vu Anh to discuss various issues on cooperation between the HSPH, the VPHA and the IDRC. In the same day, Dr. Charron also delivered a seminar on Ecohealth, focusing on the history and the current situation of IDRC’s Ecohealth projects. The seminar was well attended by lecturers, students and practitioners in the field of Ecohealth and Environmental Health. Prof Le Vu Anh highly appreciates IDRC’s support to HSPH and VPHA for the project ‘Field Building Leadership Initiative (FBLI): Advancing Ecohealth in South East Asia’ which is being implemented by both HSPH and VPHA. The IDRC funded project is being implemented in four countries including Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia and Yunnan Province of China PR. In Vietnam, HSPH is carrying out one part of the research component, the field study in Hanam province, and the VPHA hosts the Coordinating Unit of the Project. Dr. Charron also spent her time with CENPHER giving input on strategy development. At the end of the visit, both sides agreed on the need to boost cooperation between HSPH, VPHA and IDRC in the future.
