Với mục tiêu nhằm giúp các chuyên gia và các cơ quan địa phương trong ngành xây dựng năng lực về quy hoạch vệ sinh đô thị và y tế công cộng. Hội thảo có sự tham gia của đại diện các cơ quan Nhà nước, khối tư nhân và tổ chức xã hội nhân sự. CENPHER participates in the planning workshop of “Reducing disease risks and improving food safety in smallholders pig value chains in Vietnam” (PigRisk)

On April 26 - 27 2015, the bi-annual planning meeting on ‘Reducing disease risks and improving food safety in smallholders pig value chains in Vietnam’ or PigRisk project team and partners was held in Hanoi, Vietnam.The two-day workshop was hosted by the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) in Vietnam, discussed accomplishments of the project since the last team meeting in December 2014 and set project goals for the next two years.


Intern from Canada presents research findings on human and animal waste management in Vietnam

Steven has been interning at CENPHER and International Livestock Research Institute for 3 months. He worked on a project titled “health risks of agricultural intensification in Vietnam” with Dr. Sherilee Harper at the University of Guelph, Dr. Tran Thi Tuyet Hanh at the Hanoi School of Public Health, and Dr. Nguyen Viet Hung at the International Livestock Research Institute. Their research focuses on animal and human waste management, a growing concern among public and policy makers alike.


Two chapters in new book One Health: The Theory and Practice of Integrated Health Approaches

CENPHER has contributed 2 chapters on ‘One Health perspective for integrated human and animal sanitation and nutrient recycling’ and ‘Institutional research capacity development for integrated approaches in developing countries: An example from Vietnam in newly released book “ One Health: The Theory and Practice of Integrated Health Approaches”.

Ngày 1/4/2015, Đảng ủy, Ban Giám hiệu, phòng Tổ chức cán bộ Trường Đại học Y tế công cộng (ĐHYTCC) long trọng tổ chức buổi gặp mặt chia tay nguyên Hiệu trưởng GS.TS Lê Vũ Anh về nghỉ hưu. Đến tham dự buổi gặp mặt có đại diện Đảng ủy, Ban Giám hiệu, Công đoàn cùng các giảng viên, cán bộ chủ chốt của Nhà trường.


Dialogue Event: Non - communicable, infectious and environmental disease interfaces

Hanoi, March 24 2015 – The dialogue event “Non – communicable, infectious and environmental disease interfaces: Challenges and opportunities for research and intervention in Vietnam” took place in Hanoi on March 24 and 25, 2015. It was organized by the Hanoi School of Public Health (HSPH), Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH) and Novartis Foundation (NF). During the dialogue event, the organizers and invited guests discussed and setted priorities for public health issues related to non-communicable, infectious and environmental disease interfaces in Vietnam.


Dialogue Event: Non-communicable, infectious, and environmental disease interfaces: challenges and opportunities for research and intervention in Vietnam

Like many former low income countries, Vietnam has seen a rapid epidemiologic transition: while infectious diseases remain a public health challenge, non-communicable diseases have also emerged. The transition is also characterized by increasing urbanization and a change in lifestyle due to additional pressures on environmental quality. The Vietnam report of the Global Burden of Diseases (GBD) ranks stroke, ischemic heart disease, liver cancer, and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Diseases (COPD) as the four leading causes of death, responsible for, in total, >150’000 death per year. 


Hanoi School of Public Health received the Organizational Excellence Award

The 14th World Congress on Public Health took place in Kolkata, India from 11 – 15 February 2015. The congress was organized by the World Federation of Public Health Associations (WFPHA) in collaboration with national public health associations that are members of the Federation. The congress is a major international event which is supported by UN Agencies, primarily the World Health Organization and UNICEF and is closely followed for its most valuable recommendations and inputs in global public health concerns.


Sakura Science Program

The Research Institute for Humanity and Nature has established the Sakura Science Program which brings the experts/professional and lectures from the field of Ecohealth, Future Earth in Japan and also from other countries in the world; most of them are partners in Asia.

 


The FBLI Mid-term Research Workshop

About 30 researchers from four countries of Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia and China gathered in Da Nang this February to attend the Ecohealth Field Building Leadership Initiative (FBLI) Mid-term Research Workshop and 2nd Regional Core Group (RCG) Member meeting. The 4-day event (starting from 2nd February) offered a chance for FBLI researchers to share experiences and update on their progress. About 15 research papers have been planned toward the end of the research program.


The 3rd International Faecal Sludge Management Conference 2015

Considering the current situation of  Asia in FSM aspects and Vietnam’s efforts to better understand the full spectrum of urban sanitation service delivery models for the country. FSM3 has been organized in Hanoi, with the local support from the Institute of Environmental Science & Engineering (IESE), the National University of Civil Engineering (NUCE), the Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association (VWSA) and the Ministry of Construction (MOC) as national partners. It is an unique opportunity to learn from exciting regional innovations to face the coming challenges. The conference also bring together professionals across the world to share experiences and knowledge in order to collaborate and build new partnerships, while also addressing practical applications and solutions and effective adaption.  The conference was held from 19 January to 21 January 2015 in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Established in 2011, the South East Asia One Health University Network (SEAOHUN) is a consortium of universities and faculties in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam that are collaborating to build capacity and academic partnerships with government, national, and regional stakeholders to respond to outbreaks of emerging infectious diseases in the South East Asia region, adopting the One Health approach. International Livestock Research Center (ILRI) Vacancy Positions

The Returning Experts Programme implemented by the Centre for International Migration and Development (CIM) on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) offers two International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) positions for returning Asian experts who have studied at German universities and would like to participate in an interesting international field of work with ILRI based in Hanoi, Vietnam but working throughout the region. Inter-sectoral collaboration for One Health implementation in Vietnam: training, research and EIDs control polices

The Sun Yat-sen University together with Duke University and South China Agricultural University have co-organized the first international symposium on One Health Research in China to bring together professionals from different countries to deepen and encourage this multidisciplinary research approach. The symposium was held from 22 November to 23 November 2014 in Guangzhou, China.

Hội thảo “Taskforce tổng kết nghiên cứu trường hợp và phát triển hướng dẫn đánh giá nguy cơ an toàn thực phẩm” đã diễn ra vào ngày 18 tháng 11 năm 2014 tại thành phố Đồng Hới, tỉnh Quảng Bình do Trung tâm Nghiên cứu Y tế công cộng và Hệ Sinh thái (CENPHER), Đại học Y tế công cộng tổ chức. Đây là một sự kiện bên lề của Hội nghị thường niên lần thứ 7 của Cục An Toàn Thực Phẩm, Bộ Y tế với chủ đề tập trung vào các vấn đề vệ sinh an toàn thực phẩm của thức ăn đường phố.


TASKFORCE on Risk Assessment in Food Safety – an effort to bring policy and research together

The essence of “TASKFORCE on Risk Assessment” is to gather policy makers and researchers, working on food safety, who are from Ministry of Health (MOH), Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), research institutes and universities in Vietnam, provincial food safety and animal health departments to exchange information and research results, leading to better policy decisions. This year TASKFORCE meeting celebrated its third instalment on 18th November 2014 in Dong Hoi city, Quang Binh province as the side event of the 7th Annual conference  on Food Safety – a focus on stree food of the  Ministry of Health. The former aimed at reviewing all risk assessment case studies conducted within the framework of various related food safety research and seeking consultations for the two drafted Manuals on using Quantitative Microbial Risk Assessment (QMRA) and Chemical Risk Assessment in food safety.
