Sakura Science Program

The Research Institute for Humanity and Nature has established the Sakura Science Program which brings the experts/professional and lectures from the field of Ecohealth, Future Earth in Japan and also from other countries in the world; most of them are partners in Asia.  The program has 2 main activities:

-  The workshop “Transformation towards Sustainability: Voices of Early Career Asian Scholars”. The workshop is the side event to the Future Earth Workshop, it was held from Jan 22th to Jan 25th 2015. At the workshop, the participants represented a variety of research fields with high relevance to sustainability, such as eco-health, computational sociology, and education for sustainability, earth system sciences and science management. There were 9 outstanding early-career scholars from China, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan and Vietnam participated in the Workshop.

- The Nagoya Trip for  the participants to visit the International Digital Earth Applied Science Research Center (IDEAS) at Chubu University on January 24th 2015.  

This time, Vietnam has 2 representatives; Dr. Hanh Tuyet Tran is lecturer of Environmental Faculties, Hanoi School of Public Health (HSPH) and Dr. Hung Viet Nguyen is senior scientist at the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) and joint researcher at the Center for Public Health and Ecosystem Research_HSPH. In the workshop. Dr. Hanh Tuyet Tran had presented about the Transformations towards Sustainability: Current environmental health research programs and priorities by HSPH and collaborating partners”. Follow up action to this event, the participants will join into the research network to discuss about the collaboration in the “Future Earth” program. And from that, there may be many other opportunities to collaborate in the future among Asean universities.
