Position to be recruited:                      Policy Component Coordinator

Timeline:                                             18 months, full-time

Background

The Ecological Health Building and Development Initiative in Southeast Asia (FBLI) is a 5-year program (2012-2016), sponsored by the Canadian International Research and Development Center (IDRC), focusing on address the human health problems associated with agricultural intensification and other challenges.

The program has four objectives: (i) Conduct ecological health studies related to human health and issues of agricultural intensification; (ii) Strengthen research and practice capacity in ecological health through training to develop the field of ecological health; (iii) Collaboration between policymakers at the local and national levels with research groups and local communities and (iv) Strengthening networking and knowledge sharing to develop new ways of ecological health approach in Southeast Asia.

The FBLI program has 3 components: Research component; capacity building component and policy component. The main objective of the policy component (KT) is to foster dialogue between the research community and policy makers and to assist in translating research evidence into practice and influencing policy decisions. .

The program has been implemented since 2012 by a network of organizations in 4 countries (China, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam). The Vietnam Public Health Association (HYTCCVN) is the owner of this project.

The project is looking for a coordinator to work for the policy component from June 2015 to December 2016.

Duties and Responsibilities

The policy component coordinator will manage and coordinate the policy component to achieve the objectives of the proposed component. Job description includes:

  • Coordinating the planned implementation of the component's activities (managing, coordinating and reporting on the progress and results of the component's activities).
  • Support research teams in 4 countries in the region in the development of operational plans and funding plans, including input information for the development of the annual work plan.
  • Support the development of a reporting mechanism and reporting forms and other tools for Member States to update the progress of component activities.;
  • Assist the program coordinator in monitoring activities, progress, and outputs through close cooperation with national policy coalition team members and monitoring changes in their activities. component to ensure that all construction plans related to the policy component are implemented in a timely manner as planned.;
  • Support media professionals in developing communication tools and products to disseminate program results to society, especially policy makers in the agricultural and health sectors. Work closely with the coordinating unit (CU) to communicate the results of the program to the outside (website)..

Standard

Specific qualification requirements for candidates are as follows:

  • At least a master's degree in communication, journalism, public relations or other equivalent fields;
  • At least 2 years of working experience in managing programs and projects related to communication, public relations and program/project coordination;
  • Good communication and writing ability in English.

Contracts and benefits:

  • The selected candidate will sign a contract with the Vietnam Public Health Association on a full-time basic.
  • The selected candidate will report directly to the Program Coordinator and the President of the Vietnam Public Health Association.
