    The Field Building Leadership Initiative (FBLI): Advancing Ecohealth in South East Asia is a five year program (2012-2017), funded by the Canadian International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canada which focuses on solving human health problems associated with agricultural intensification and other challenges.


  • Call for Papers and Posters from SEA - EU - NET 2

    The SEA-EU-NET 2 project will organise the next ASEAN-EU Science, Technology & Innovation Days (STI Days) on 17-19 March, 2015 in Paris, France as a bi-regional forum for cooperation activities between Europe and Southeast Asia. The conference will include plenary sessions on ASEAN-EU STI cooperation with high-level keynotes, various scientific workshops focusing on the societal challenges of Food Security and Safety, Health, and Water Management, as well as information and training sessions on funding, mobility opportunities or innovation. An Innovation Exhibition and several field trips will make the programme more interactive and interesting.


  • European – Southeast Asia Experts One health in action workshop From One health theory to Reality: Practical Challenges, Impact of One Health Initiatives and Gaps in Research

    On behalf of SEA-EU-NET, The French Agricultural Research Center for International Development (CIRAD) in collaboration with local and international organizations, including the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology (NIHE), the National Institute for Veterinary Research (NIVR), the British High Commission Singapore (BHC), the Southeast Asia One Health University Network (SEAOHUN) and Vietnam One Health University Network (VOHUN), and the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) together successfully organized the European – Southeast-Asia Experts One Health in Action Workshop on 13th – 15th October, 2014 in Hanoi. Ninety-seven participants from 16 countries, including 41 animal health, 49 public health and seven environmental/wildlife health experts from Europe and Southeast Asia, met at the workshop to discuss the reality of practical challenges, and the impact of One Health initiatives and gaps in research.

  • JOB VACANCY Post-Doctoral Scientist Food Safety and Zoonosis / CCAFS Flagship 2 (closed)

    The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) seeks to recruit a post- doctoral Scientist to work in Vietnam and Laos. The scientist will report to a senior scientist in ILRI's Food Safety and Zoonoses team. His or her role will be to coordinate the project activities to ensure a good integration of work components, to strenthen research activities of FSZ program on agriculture related diseases forecast and to generate research and other outputs. The scientist will lead ILRI's work component and support other work of other partners, and co-ordinate the project.


  • Call for Proposals - FBLI Seeding Funding

    The Center for Public Health and Ecosystem Research (CENPHER), Hanoi School of Public Health (HSPH) is implementing the program entitled Field Buidling Leadership Initiative in Vietnam (FBLI): Advancing Ecohealth in South-East Asia” funded by the International Development and Research (IDRC), Canada from 2012 to 2016 . The purpose of the research program is to develop Ecohealth major based on research, training and intergration with operational policy and network connection to solve human health problem associated with agricultural intensification in Vietnam. The FBLI’s research in Vietnam has applied Ecohealth approach to study the health and environmental impacts of improper animal waste management in intensified agriculture systems  and offers solutions to solve this issue. In May 2014, in the framework of the FBLI, the Global Health True Leaders Training was organized  to provide potential Ecohealth future leaders with neccesary knowledge and skills on leadership and public health. We now invite young researchers to apply for the small grants titled “Ecohealth approach to better tackle the issue of health risks related to agricultural intensification” 


  • The 2014 Ecohealth Conference: Connections for health, ecosystems and society

    The Ecohealth Conference is a biennial event organized by the International Association for Ecology and Health (IAEH). With the theme of “Connections for health, ecosystems and society”, this year’s Conference marked the 5th anniversary of the event. Approximately 500 scientists working in Ecohealth field from 60 countries around the world gathered in Montreal, Quebec, Canada from 11th August to 15th August 2014 to present their research and achievements in Ecohealth field as well as to introduce new training and research programs in Ecohealth. Hundreds of abstracts from more than 60 countries were submitted covering all aspects of health and related angles.


  • CENPHER Five Year Report 2009 – 2014: From a Research Project to a Research Center

    Hanoi, August 8th 2014. The Center for Public Health and Ecosystem Research (CENPHER) of the Hanoi School of Public Health (HSPH) launched its “CENPHER 5 Year Report 2009-2014: From a Research Project to a Research Center”. This report aims to summarize the activities conducted over the last 5 years by this research center, which has developed at a Vietnamese university. It began with a single research partnership project between Swiss institutions and HSPH. With the support and commitment of HSPH, partners, colleagues, mentors, supervisors, students, and donors, CENPHER has been able to institute diverse projects and generate research and training portfolios with a special focus on environmental health and food safety in Vietnam and in the Southeast Asian region. While the research group is still in its early stage, the report documents the achievements thus far for the partners who have helped CENPHER pursue common goals.


  • Swiss State Secretary for Education, Research and Innovation to visit Vietnam

    The State Secretary will be accompanied by a delegation of representatives from major Swiss universities of various scientific disciplines (ETH Zurich, EPFL Lausanne, University of Geneva, University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland, Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute).

    Established in June 2012, the Center for Research in Public Health and Ecosystems (CENPHER) is a research unit under the University of Public Health, focusing on interdisciplinary research. The Center's three main development directions include: research, training and service provision, towards developing the link between health and environment in Vietnam and the region.
