Workshop on business models and solutions for reuse of agro-industrial waste in Vietnam
The workshop is a collaboration between IFAD and IWMI to explore the potential for scaling business models that reuse agro-industrial waste. Resource Recovery and Reuse (RRR) research group in IWMI has developed a database of more than 150 reuse business cases and has analyzed more than 50 cases in detail. These empirical business cases have helped the RRR team develop 20+ conceptual business models that are geared to converting domestic and agro-industrial waste into value-added products such as compost, energy and water.

NEW REPORT: One Health Assessment: A Survey of RESPOND Participant Views and Uses of the One Health Approach
The purpose of this survey was to understand how participants of One Health related events view the One Health approach and integrate it into their work. In January 2014, an online survey was sent to individuals who participated in One Health related events as part of the USAID funded RESPOND Project since its inception in 2009. Respondents are overwhelmingly positive about their experiences, but also provided concrete suggestions on how to improve and expand One Health efforts within their home institutions and countries.

The Malaysia One Health University Network (MyOHUN) invited more than 20 participants from the Southeast Asian One Health University Network (SEAOHUN)to a regional workshop, funded by USAID-RESPOND program, on diagnosis and profiling of Leptospirosis, held on 4-7 February 2014, at Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside Hotel and Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Malaysia.

The One Health approach has received strong concern from the Government of Vietnam through many national and local activities. Highlights have been (i) the National Convention on the application of a One Health approach to the risk of infectious diseases in human - animal ecosystems in Vietnam; (ii) a Joint Circular from the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development providing Guidelines for coordination on prevention of disease transmission from animals to humans; (iii) Development of necessary capacity to support the One Health approach; (iv) Building and develop One Health courses into training programs at undergraduate and postgraduate levels

CENPHER Seminar Series for Student (C3S) at the Hanoi School of Public Health
“Soft skills”, a term refer to communication, team-work, or CV writing skills are necessary for graduates who are looking for jobs after universities. Employers usually highly appreciate the candidates who are confident with good communication and scientific work skill, and the candidates who have good time-arrange skill and effective teamwork skill. However in Vietnam, soft skills are not often provided through the formal education channel, but only the subjects related to “professional subjects and hard skills”.
